The comments refer to 'economic migrants' and their alleged 'taking advantage'. there are no routes for unskilled economic migrants. The use of AWP is simply highlighting the fact it's less than 50yrs since dad's/grandads in UK were as desperate as many others feel today.

Quick reminder that in the 1980's economic migrants from the UK flooded European building sites. Cramming into accommodation to save money, a lot of the payments 'off the books' and sending everything they earned back home to support their families. Was so common a TV show was made about it.

For now - but we were saying the same about Reform not that long ago. Ireland needs to be paying more attention to them generally, before it gets to the point where they set fire to an IPAS centre.

What a very pleasant surprise this film was. Creepy as hell with several excellent jump scares (one good enough to make me swear at the screen about 'this fucking film' - iykyk)

That they haven't been reacting in real time to how unpopular their policies & statements have been is proof that Starmer is completely out of touch with the very people who handed him the keys to No. 10. A big change needs to happen - and not just in leadership.

Picture from Breaking Points. 50yr mortgage interest repayment more than 3x that of a 30yr mortgage & almost double the monthly mortgage payments. Get a mortgage at 25yo, you'll still be paying at 75yo. This is not a solution, it's yet another way to push wealth to the elite (bankers/investors etc)

BBC needs to be protected. While they certainly have leanings towards bias on many issues (imo) & can be infuriating, alternative is a media controlled by ratings driving advertising revenue & drowning in bad actors w/ personal agendas - the poison will spread through UK media landscape as a whole

Chris Norlund has been recommending these 2 films forever - and today i got around to watching them. 1987 is amazing & 12.12!!! If you like a perfectly paced, hold your breath from one scene to the next thriller, this is for you. All the more intense because it's (they're) based on actual events.

Just back from Rhod Gilbert at @corkoperahouse.bsky.social - what a show. My face and stomach ache and I have a headache from laughing - i was literally crying with laughter. The poignant and powerful finale to the show was chefs kiss. If you get a chance to see him - GO!
