Just finished watching « The Legends of the Guardians: the owls of Ga’hoole » (Le royaume de Ga’hoole en français) and it’s just marvelous. Gorgeous. Stunning. A piece of art.

Yes it’s bird, yes I’m biased, yes I resonate with Snyder cinematography and slow mo. But look at THAT!

I got the European blue jay this morning!
A « geai des chênes » on a branch. Surroundings and background is very complex, a lot of blurry branches and blurry leafs, some yellow, some green, with some hint of light blue sky. The bird itself is a corvid that looks like a small crow, however he is very light colored: beige with slight orange tint all over the body, a tiny patch of light blue on the wing, mixed with black spots. The beige goes to the head, but that the eye level, it becomes white with black spots. He’s got a black « moustach » under the eye, starting up at his grey beak. Tail is mostly dark grey from this angle. His feet are light Grey and pink.

Just photographed a comet… again. Yep, a new comet, in just a few months. What a year!

It’s C/2023 A3 Tsushinchan. In the northern hemisphere, it’s roughly W-SW just after sunset, at the Alps latitude.

The first three are post processed through Lightroom Mobile with the JPG so light process, but NGC6990 is with PixInsight and a blend of RC-Astro plugins.

Those are 30 min to 1h exposures :)

Here’s a better version of Orion that I post-processed with PixInsight (what a great tool!)
The Orion Nebula, in her blue/pink shade, which is close to what we would see in real life if I’m not mistaken.

When it’s sunny, Montreal is a great city 💙
Photograph taken in a winter snowed filled street in downtown Montreal, a guy smoking a cigarette looking content, with sun light coming down on him, giving him false angel wings. By his left, a very fancy women with a leopard coat is walking with confidence. The man is in a corner of a modern building made of concrete, under the sign of a brand called Nuance. There is a very slim tree, about 2.5 meters tall, no branches, no leafs, and within a metallic enclosure. An artistic photograph of an old building from the 19th center alongside a modern 21st century glass tower way taller. The old building got light reflections that ressemble water light reflection but that are actually projected by the building behind the photographer, that we only see partially in the windows reflections. The photograph shows an old downtown Montreal church trapped between tall 20/21st century towers. The picture is zoomed, so you can see in the foreground part of a sign for trucks, and a packing sign in the middle ground. It’s like a layer of building and the church seems very small compared to the rest. A very nice portrait of a pigeon. There are 3 pigeons in the picture: one in the foreground, totally blurred, with white spots on its head, looking right. This pigeon is on the left side of the picture. The second pigeon is on the middle ground, looking left, and is positioned at the right side of the picture. He is blurred as well. Both of those pigeons are positioned so that there’s a space between them, and our 3rd pigeon, who’s on focus, is sharp and in the center. We only see his head and his chest, as well as his two talons. The chest has a lign of purple feathers that reflects the light. He’s got a bright orange eye, and a lign of white feather below his eyes (like a eyeliner makeup in a way). They all are on dirty snow, in a very light maroon color. The light in general is very warm, late afternoon. And coming from the left side of the photograph.
