It's clear many are interpreting his words as accusing the shooter of being MAGA. This is the line being repeated by many figures on the right.

Also the flag over the white house was at half-mast. Which is traditionally done when a President dies, however it had been done days earlier in response to the school shooting in Minnesota.

This is the real issue. You see an article linked on social media, you click to read it to be hit with a paywall. Now you need to make an account, pull out your credit card etc.. just to read one article It feels like a bait and switch.
