I replied this elsewhere as well, but I think it's because all of the ideas and people you encounter are just one dimensional and shallow. Lots of jokes about how Capitalism is so bad, but they don't DO anything with that theme. The characters can all be described with one or two lines. Just flat

I really tried to like that game, but everything sort of felt like a thin facade made to LOOK sparkly and interesting but had nothing behind it. This sadly included the plot and characters.

Conflating Marxist theory and communism isn't helpful. One is a system of political and economic theories, the other is an ideology. The terms are interwoven, but distinct.

It depends on what your idea of socialism is. Watered down ideologies like democratic socialism obviously do not ascribe to limiting private property. Marxist socialism obviously does.

Socialism would not include rent at all, as it would not be possible to own private property. (Personal property would still exist.)
This is just showing how far the American notion of 'Socialism' has been watered down.

These people actively loot and pillage the writing community and we're meant to accept it. I'm not affected directly by the debacle, but my heart goes out to all writers screwed over.

I'd agree. A cool party trick, but not a reliable toolset. How could it be if even the people making it don't fully understand how to manage it? Too vague and not serious.
