IMO Europe MUST now treat the US as they should have Russia. One wolf has been at the door, and now another is in their house. Only a firm and, if necessary, violent response will be sufficient to make it clear that aggression and territorial violence shall not succeed. Wake up and arm yourselves

Publicly funded research should be published by publicly funded website. Now sure what to do about peer reviews and the associated costs. At min, the papers should be published before any peer review, then noted with review results. The information should be available. Period.

I immensely admire them both. I am not enough of a man to withstand the kind of pressure and constant danger they deal with. They are both sacrificing their health for their countrymen. just astonishing people.

there was really no need for this announcement of the obvious. putin has been clear for years about his intention to seize not only Ukraine but also the former Soviet states. if you're surprised, you haven't been paying attention

no they don't understand, Yana. Most are ignorant of the history there, even of Bucha. What awaits if Europe doesn't rush aid is a super-sized version of Bucha (and other atrocities). People can't conceive of a landscape where the smell of blood and decomposing bodies is everywhere. You're right

Does this really surprise you? They have SAID they were going on a war footing, but their hearts have not yet followed. I fear for Europe, and particularly those states closest to danger.

As a past US president once remarked: diplomacy is the art of saying "nice doggy" until one can find a big stick to hit it with. It seems to me that, especially in this case, ambiguity is the wiser course. Closing a door if one doesn't have to can prove advantageous.
