I don't think I've ever seen a piece of media that better crafts a sense of total, inescapable, understandable paranoia for the protagonist. Gaslight, Gatekeep, Girlboss to the extreme.

The music is good so far. I especially like the theme they would play during a "challenge" or similar circumstances. I look forward to more jams.

The altered-photo backgrounds are way more compelling than the anime backgrounds, that is a straight downgrade the mod applies that you seemingly can't adjust. They fit the feeling of the story WAY WAY more strongly.

The remaster sprites are better than the console ones. Amazing you get three choices with the mod and none of them are a good art style. And that's just fine for this game.

I played it vanilla on steam first, with the remaster sprites. After reading it I tried out the mod to compare the different spites, backgrounds, voice acting.

Original sprites are unhinged - they should exist is my thought there.

Why? So you can see they actually weren’t good the hard way? That the second you drop them in contemporary contexts they behave like anyone else in their archetype? The things that draw people to political power haven’t changed.

It’s a muscle that needs exercised by the companies. Digimon for example, the demo is in the grayest, music-less intro hour. Its hilarious how much higher the production value is the second you get past it, they couldn’t pick a worse slice of a good game if they tried.

Echo Tides of Time. They add drowning and sharks in the deep in the 2nd level.
