Yeah, I can't really point to exactly when it happened, but I remember seeing a shift in reaction to obviously racist posts on /co/ from being told to fuck off to just kind of accepted.

God, seeing that just reminds me of how they made the player character constantly pant in the Demon's Souls remake.

Bring back supers where it's just the character doing the same 3 moves at 10x speed.

Salo is on the Sight & Sound director's top 100 list. Stephen King's It was the number one best selling fictional book on Publisher's Weekly's 1986 list. Like, what's with all of this pearl clutching?

Look, maybe if we stick this out long enough we can get Metroid in the Hood.

I think one of the most frustrating things is seeing people try to apply this sort of thinking to Nightreign. Sorry bro, but I'm not gonna exclusively use the Revenant's starting weapon in the fucking roguelike.

Could it potentially be a better solution to emulating something like Missile Command? I mean, obviously buying a trackball would be better, but...

Baseball games are great to attend in person, but quite possibly the most boring sport to watch on TV.

For a game people praise for the pacing, every section sure does go on twice as long as it should.

The episodes are cool, though.

I do think post-damage iframes in faster paced games make things feel a lot better, but generally speaking an invincible dodge feels like a bit of a crutch.

I really miss having any arcades in my area. MAME is cool and all, but it was really fun to be able to play something like Prop Cycle or Silent Scope.

I've got my 2600 sitting in my room, and I can't imagine trying to play Kaboom! on a keyboard or modern controller.

Having a wide variety of bosses also makes the straight up fights much more memorable! Flamelurker is cool because he exists in contrast to the rest of the game!

I liked Artorias as much as anyone, but I really don't need half the fights in each sequel to be a riff on him.

This is kind of tangential to this entire discussion, but I sometimes wonder how people would react to a game that pulls a Ninja Dog Mode or Contra 4 and insults the player/cuts the final stages for anyone who chooses the hardest difficulty.

Pretty sure that in sheer numbers I've seen more Miike than anybody other director, and yet 20+ movies is still only, like, a sixth of the guy's filmography.

Gael doesn't even have being bad going for him, he's just the midest boss to ever mid.

Happy birthday!
September 11, 2025 at 9:37 AM
but is there a difficulty that ties enemy spawns to screen scroll?
September 8, 2025 at 10:37 PM
Like, I hear that everything in Silksong just straight up does more damage, and as someone who likes inching through a maze with my shield raised a lot more than dodging highly damaging combo strings, I can sympathize with the disappointment that this is what the developer doubled down on.

I mean, I like Fromsoft's games, which are hard, but at some point the escalation of difficulty with each game started to wear me down. Being forced to engage with the game's mechanics is one thing, but it increasingly seems like the goal is to present me walls to repeatedly slam my head against.

I mostly didn't get to watch R rated movies until I was old enough to rent them myself, but my parents were far less diligent about checking what books or comics I was reading.

My friend's parents didn't give a shit though, which is how I saw Freejack and Last of the Mohicans at the theater.

I think I rented this movie multiple times when I was, like, twelve, and somehow my parents (who normally would pay attention to this sort of thing) never noticed how wild it was.

I also had the elf orgy issue of ElfQuest when I was about ten years old.
