Finally finished my Musselburgh hat! It was my easy travel knitting project so I worked on it in spurts. I have some ladders on the side bc I am out of practice doing magic loop, but it’s a hat for me so I don’t really care. Yummy yarn is from @gaugedyeworks.bsky.social #craftsky

First sewing project in a while. Pattern is the Midnight Kiss pouch by Sincerely, Jen (@sincerelyjenpatterns) and it’s a good one. About 7” high and 5” wide. #sewing #pouch

Yesterday was the one year anniversary of my mom’s death. Over the past few days I honored her memory by bringing meals to some friends who are recovering from surgery; catching up with other friends; and spending today with with a good friend, including brunch and time playing with watercolors. 1/2

I can’t fathom what we are becoming

Meet Birdie! We adopted her 12 days ago but after 2 days she had to return to the shelter for surgery. She has been home for a week and she finally got to take the plastic cone off yesterday. She is sweet and playful and she is providing much needed emotional support 🐈‍⬛ 💜 #catsofbluesky

Slow but steady progress on my #musselburgh hat. This one is my travel/easy knitting project, so it only gets worked on here and there. 🧶

Today’s self care was to bring home a kitty. We need extra snuggles these days. No name yet but she seems like a sweetie so far.

Finished spinning and chain plying the Unicorn Barf batt (crazy colors made when playing with drum carder). Nubby batt plus not much spinning practice in past 15 yrs means I have pretty ugly umm “artsy” yarn 😂🧶 It will be good for some future mixed media projects. #CraftSky #handspun #wool

The world is a disaster right now and it’s hard to tap in to my crafting mojo. Thankfully I can darn (more) socks while I listen to audiobooks or watch TV. 🪡 #visiblemending #craftsky

Spent quality time with my bestie this weekend, playing with a new (to her) drum carder. We made a batt we called Unicorn Barf 😂 🦄 #handspinning #carding #craftsky

Haven’t used my Ashford Kiwi spinning wheel in a while, but today I’m visiting a fellow spinner. Buckle up! 🧶 #CraftSky

It’s certainly true that some one may not be able to match the yarn. You could consider some visible mending, with fun patches or embroidery. Here is a sweater where I covered up moth holes w decorative patches:

A friend from my UU congregation brought these mittens to me today to see if I could mend them. Knitted by her grandmother, maybe 60-70+years ago? A great example of traditional Maine/Canadian patterns 🧶 🧵

This week the #ShowMeYourKnits theme is stripes! And I love making variations on the traditional striped mittens pattern from Maine, as documented by Robin Hansen in “Favorite Mittens.” Here is a fingerless mitt, in progress, and some pirate mittens. 🧶
