Knitter, sometimes crocheter, and sewist who tries to make sense of this bananas world by listening to too many podcasts, learning Welsh, and doing a little yoga. (Honestly, I don't actually knit all that much.) LGBTQ ally. 🇺🇸🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 🧶🧵🪡
Made a hand-rolled hem handkerchief from lovely handkerchief linen. I'm satisfied with my embroidery. I may make these as little Christmas gifts. (I'll machine stitch the hem on any others--hand rolled is beautiful but labor intensive! #sewing

So happy that @erwhatdidyousay.bsky.social shared #criswoodssewsenvelope I had fabric perfect for it. I'll be making this one again!

Another hole in another cheap cotton sock covered using my loom. Had no idea Houndstooth was so simple! #visiblemending

Look at that! First time using my loom from @worthmending.com and I had these wonderful results. Thanks to the recommendation from @yarnharlot.bsky.social #visiblemending

Rain did not keep me from what I see as my duty. I do this for me, and my family, and for those who can't. #nokings

#showmeyourknits Two baby blankets. Even small blankets are a lot of work! These were for people well worth the effort. 😊 Details in alt text.

#memademay The Singlet from Zero Waste Patterns by Birgitta Helmersson. This was fun! It's really neat to make all the pieces from one rectangle without any leftover. I had previously made a lot of bias tape with the fabric; it's worth making that for this. #garmentsewing

Yesterday, I made *another* Boxy Top from How to Sew Clothes. When something works for you, you stick with it. I seamed the back to reduce waste. And I made my own bias tape. #memademay

Today, my #memademay was taking a mending class from Kate Sekules. Feeling a little more confident.

Today, I wore my Merchant & Mills Bucket Hat to pick up my purchase of "Zero Waste Patterns" by Birgitta Helmersson. The hat (see my avatar) is a free pattern. Of three bucket hat patterns I've tried, I like it best. Rainy day here in NYC--see bikers in 5-Boro Bike Tour. #memademay #garmentsewing

Thanks to this video from @cadencev7bvi.bsky.social I successfully placed heels on my toe-up socks. youtu.be/oNWpZrZrV1M

The Boxy Top (with sleeves) from How to Sew Clothes in fabric from the remnant store near my house. I also altered the waist of the thrifted jeans. #memademay #garmentsewing

I have my own version of "Find that lizard!" Spotted what apparently is a green anole in Green-Wood Cemetery. Not native, but established. They are fast, but it paused long enough for a photo. Can you spot it? 🦎

My niece is surpassing me in sewing skills! Those are all working pockets on her vest. She made it for a theme party and worked it all out on her own (with some YT assistance). #garmentsewing

This is The Gift by kiddiwinksknits. A free pattern that I did indeed "gift" to a friend's new baby. When she grew into it, a photo was generously shared--love a gift being used! #showmeyourknits 🧶

I don't like myself in grey unless it's charcoal! This is one of my Jen Steingass designs. Single strand of unspun Icelandic wool. It's so light and yet so cozy. Not my best work, but that stuff is challenging! 🧶 #knitting

Mine I made in a terracotta linen. A little wrinkly here.

Today, I shortened two thrifted dress shirts thanks to this video youtu.be/wPw8t6_1K90?... and made a double-pointed needle keeper from scrap fabric and elastic (which i cobbled together based on a photo I saw). #thrifty #nowaste #reuse #mending

So, this happened. What a mess in my fridge!
Saving graces:
1. The door was closed.
2. We heard it as it happened and could clean up immediately.
3. It is sugar free soda.

On the needles a sock in CMYK! I work in print production and was surprised to see the colorway on KnitPicks. Probably going to continue to pool in weird ways, but I'm OK with that.

I hacked this sewing-machine cover very quickly. It's not something anyone needs to inspect closely! #stashbust #sewing #stash The fabric is Laura Ashley and I received it from my Aunt (who also gave me the Brother machine underneath the cover).

My #Camber set (dress) from #MerchantAndMills in corduroy that my mom had stashed away. No mods, but I may want to add pockets at the seams. #garmentsewing

On the needles this week: #musselburgh by #Ysolda. Using some lovely Madeline Tosh merino I had in my stash. I'm knitting in a little Morse code just for me.

Practicing darning on a cheap cotton-blend sock. Followed the direction of #BernadetteBanner as found in her book.
