As a Canadian, I am horrified at the coverage of Trump's horrible bill on CBC. The story doesn't even make the "Top News" page, and if you dig it up from the "World News" page, the article mostly focuses on the "narrow margin" and turbulent process...

Hungary banned anything that “promotes homosexuality,” which means Pride.

However, today over 500,000 people in Budapest told the government to fuck off. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

The whole thread is worth reading.
It starts with a fork in the road. If the tween or teen asks: “What is fascism?” you basically have two roads to take. The easier road focuses on the pathology of schoolyard bullies who grow up to become aberrant dominators in an otherwise functional system. /2

The day started with tragedy with political violence in MN and instead of being scared, neighbors SHOWED UP to stand together at No Kings Twin Cities. We packed the Capitol Mall all the way to the Cathedral. Estimate 80,000+ right now. So proud of our state. #nokings #indivisible

1. What you see here is clearest illustration why things are so messed up and why it cannot get any better until this asymmetry is addressed.

Put simply: the right-wing has narrative dominance.

Cuts to the NWS will have an impact in our region.
Weather balloons provide very important data for weather forecasting models (including the Canadian & European models) and provide important insights during fall, winter and spring storms here in the northeast.

Lack of staff is leading to the loss of even more balloon observations. I look at hundreds of these data points daily for my job. Both observed & model derived. These balloon observations can be critical in accurate severe thunderstorm forecasts & watch issuance. They improve model accuracy as well.

This is a basic obviosity but there's no reason to not simply state that Trans people were degraded and dehumanized by Trump last night to waves of applause. Everyone saw it, it was disgusting, it made me fear for friends and family, and this rhetoric can't ever be considered normal or okay.

Left-wing censorship was a fantasy, but the right-wing censorship is real, unconstitutional, and murderous. There was no majority anti-conservative social media bias or casual forced use of words like “birthing person.” But stripping protest rights and official language is actual deadly censorship

We are in a dangerous time but here are two important facts:

1. Trump's base of support is a minority.
2. That base is going to shrink as his agenda is enacted.

The opposition is the majority. No moping allowed.

Why is CBC not reporting on the role that Elon Musk and his tech bros, in concert with Trump, are playing in the takeover of the US government in defiance of the Constitution, including the Treasury payment system, USAID, and now the Department of Education?
