Game is set in Japanifornia, specifically its capital city of Sacratokyo. Here, the birthplace of TCG, is where new cards and new technologies are innovated first - and of course, where most of the world’s toughest opponents reside. TTRPG players have explicitly never played TCG before, perhaps coming from another nation (or extremely small town) where the game is hardly played. New classmates are immediately going to rush to give you all starter decks and teach you how to play this game. PROTAG SCHOOL - Has a low stakes TCG club that historically hasn’t placed very high in school tournaments, and is generally casual - Where we first meet some intro characters to teach us the game - Has an absurdly powerful student council that serves as an early antagonist that eventually gets overshadowed by more serious and competent rivals/threats - Has a school reporter who livestreams and commentates battles, causing the protags to catch the eye of more powerful rivals as they grow stronger. Inexplicitly is always there when an important card game is about to be played. Inexplicably is watched by basically everyone. - Piss off someone at school? You gotta beat them in a card game that will be broadcast to the entire student body after classes. All petty schoolyard drama is So Public. OTHER SCHOOL - Characters we only meet at the card shops go here - If we progress in school level tournaments, we can fight this school's team - This school historically performs better than ours at school level tournaments, having reached the national tournament before. Their club is hardcore, it’s a defining feature of their school. Our first serious rivals are here. CARD SHOP A - Closest card shop to our school, a good place to meet and play practice matches with people outside of class - Form an all ages team and compete in local tournaments, maybe try for the nationals! - That broadcaster from school always happens to be here if you are having a battle of any importance.
