and angled to show some of the graphite over top last after drying to define shapes and highlights. need to remember to leave white space for shine at the stage with the water and brushing the pigment around, but still feels like good practice

not familiar with this species and think the color is a less common natural variant which made it tougher to identify but almost certain it is Philoscia Muscorum (common striped woodlouse) based on the overall shape (especially the way the body narrows out towards the rear

just watercolor pencils this time, very pale gray for the sketch then the purple, then black detailing last. larger paper, and actual watercolor paper this time. getting a feel for it still but maybe new materials are fighting off some art-block

added a little to this one yesterday. still experimenting with this different method that we are going to just call "sprawling" where pieces are pasted together like growing patchwork as it goes rather than starting with a full background first and pasting the pieces on once most is planned out

different than usual very freeform collage finished a few nights ago. ambivalent about it still, but we learned (?). experiment based on matching colors and creating tangents. no "subject" of focus beyond the composition itself. the sort of thing we might make as a background but as the piece itself
