Painted lady numbers are set to soar this summer.

When Knepp started rewilding creeping thistle grew in metre-high thickets. However, painted ladies arrived in force, laying eggs on the plants. Their caterpillars fed on the leaves, naturally balancing creeping thistle numbers.

We make movements powerful by believing in them. No one does that better than our young people. We are proud to be working with the next generation of young leaders, across Sussex and beyond.

Knepp storks were the stars of Countryfile this week, showcasing their welcome return to Sussex.

White storks are one of only two UK bird species whose adults don't call. Instead, they communicate through bill clattering. Pairs clatter to strengthen bonds and to deter predators.

Our Young Guides have explored wild journeys this year.

As we prepare to welcome our second cohort, we are catching up with our very first group.

Each of our Young Guides has found their own niche, from the White Stork Project and Wild Futures to the Adur River Recovery Project.

At Knepp, sunny days bring a buzz—literally. Ecologists Matt and Fleur found so many bees this morning they were hard to count.

After two decades of rewilding, the landscape teems with life: deadwood and bare earth offer nesting spots, and no pesticides mean nature keeps balance.

Wake up at Knepp and step straight into the wild. If you're a young ecologist, this is your chance to gain hands-on field skills where rewilding is unfolding beneath your feet.

We're partnering with @opwall.bsky.social for summer residentials.

To lead the way in nature recovery, we need to know where we stand.

The Adur River Recovery project is working with farmers and land managers across the catchment to build a blueprint for large-scale landscape restoration.

Understanding its living foundations helps us restore it and guide others.

This Bank Holiday crowds flocked to Storrington to celebrate the return of white storks to our skies and the growing movement for community-led nature recovery!

We marked a proud milestone: Knepp and Storrington becoming the UK’s members of the European Stork Village Network.

At Knepp spring woods bloom differently.

In the rewilded ecosystem, bluebells are part of a wildflower patchwork; a sign of disturbance by large herbivores. Tamworth pigs mimic wild boar, disturbing soil where a host of plant species thrive. Instead of a bluebell carpet, the woodlands form a quilt.

Beavers have been given the green light to get out there and restore our waterways! These natural engineers freely create wetlands that filter water, reduce floods & boost biodiversity. They once thrived in our landscape and will now help to shape a resilient, sustainable Sussex.
