Am I crazy, or is the guy pictured in this story the same guy that was pictured in the August story about the raid in LA?

Simplex?

Less lethal — rubber bullets still kill people

Did you even read that article?

You have no idea what you’re talking about

Sorry, Waltz, not Whitaker.

They are trying to use Signal to cover for their crimes. Signal is great for hiding conversations, that’s why they are using it instead of official channels. Their mistake was bringing a journalist into the group chat. This is a very important distinction.

alert the Signal Foundation.

Thanks for vouching for Signal yourself! It’s one of our most valuable tools against fascism, and it’s getting a bad rap these past couple days from people who don’t understand it, so I hope we don’t start raising pitchforks against them.

Right, I saw that earlier. The targeting attempts that caught our intelligence agencies’ attention was phishing attempts, not actual vulnerability in the code. Not that vulnerabilities can’t exist, but the world’s opsec community is constantly auditing the open source code to find them so they can

Signal is extraordinarily safe if you aren’t a moron who invites the wrong person to the chat. In fact, it’s so safe that THAT is a huge part of the problem — government communications need to be documented for accountability. They are making sure their crimes have no paper trail.
March 27, 2025 at 12:36 AM
This is exactly why they were using it and it’s crazy that it’s not a focal point right up there with them inviting a major journalist to their group chat. They are certainly communicating all of their plans in non-documented ways, totally free of future accountability.

No January 6thers were busted because of Signal. Signal is incredibly secure and we should all be using it.
March 26, 2025 at 10:38 PM
The “vulnerability” being discussed here was a phishing technique that tricked people into adding others to their group chat. This is not what Whitaker did, btw, he just did it because he’s dumb. Signal is one of the most important tools we have right now, research it yourself (or your techy friend)
March 26, 2025 at 10:31 PM
This really glosses over one of the most important parts of this story: this administration is communicating in a way that completely removes any kind of paper trail that holds them accountable.

Peak

Signal is one of the most important tools we have right now for pushing back. It’s a non-profit that solely exists to create a user friendly secure (as long as you don’t accidentally invite journalists to your group chat) way of communicating. Putting down Signal is pure tech illiteracy, period.
