I volunteered to pick grapes with Hidden Harvest today. Half the harvest goes to the volunteers, half to local community organizations who help people who are food insecure.

My bonded pair siblings are still snuggling. Adopting kittens during a pandemic was the best idea.

Crabapple jelly. Love the colour. Very labour intensive process but delicious.

I was in a local grocery store last night and noticed the baby formula is in a locked cabinet. I Seems really concerning that it is so expensive. People are just trying to feed their babies and survive.

Also interesting that streetcars were ripped up by a car supplier consortium so people couldn’t go back to streetcars when they realized cars just led to more congestion and slower commutes.

Also I didn’t realize the extent of deaths of children by car drivers and subsequent protest in the 1920s and 30s

Extraordinary book about the history of the introduction of the car, impacts on our neighbourhoods and how the tech industry’s solutions are a means to extract profit, not improve mobility.

Really recommend reading this book if you’re interested in understanding how other cities have addressed their housing crises.

In September, I started volunteering at the Caldwell family centre food bank in September. Unloading and sorting food, stocking shelves and serving clients. Here is a part of their recent newsletter.

I watched the committee hearing on Bill 212 and there were multiple people who spoke about the death of loved ones or how they had endured lifelong injuries because they had been hit by cars while cycling. Unbelievably cruel response by the government.

Today I went to see a musical. At intermission I went to a rally for refugees and met up with a friend there. After the rally I went back to see the rest of the musical.Very encouraged by all the people who came to show their support for welcoming newcomers to the city. It was the best day.
