"Not a penalty."

- I would expect new lines and pairings at practice. Clearly its time for a bit of a deck shuffle.
-Draisaitl had some brilliant moments today at times.
There's not much else to be said, they stunk today. On to the next one.

After playing not a terrible first period, the wheels came off the train in the second and didn't get better from there.

If you folks want to see what a team looks like when they're getting absolutely bodied analytically, have a look at this:

G36: Stick it in the L column and the tape in the trashcan.

Bluesky exclusive: I'll do my best to post these threads here as well again. I kind of fell off the rails awhile back, but I know a huge chunk of Oilers ex-Twitter is here.

- Brett Kulak played like 23 minutes tonight at all strengths. He's really munching these new minutes we're giving him. Love it.

Anyhow, that's all I have time for tonight. It was a pretty fun game overall, certainly better then last night, and something they can continue to build on. (8/8)

Emberson struggled a bit, corsi was way underwater with 5-21 at evens. I did see some good glimmers and some excellent checking, leading the team with 4 hits. That line overall had a mighty struggle getting out of their own end. (5/8)

G20: Much Better.

Quick post tonight, unfortunately I have a bit of a busy evening here.

- Significantly better effort tonight overall, their star power was cooking. I loved Podkolzin with the lead line, excellent work by him tonight overall.

- Goal by McBouchard was ridiculous. (1/8)

Ekholm is also struggling, though I don't know how much of that is because of Bouchard.

Throw away the tape, re-center, and come back tomorrow. I think I'll do the same. Cheers! (25/25)

Once again the xGF wayyyy outran the actual GF to predictable results:

So, what needs to change:

- Their PP needs a shuffle, at this point it's no longer viable and must be changed. (10/25)

G19: Yeet the tape.....mostly.

H'ok. Straight up, that game was a pig and it's very difficult to put lipstick on it. I will do my best to find some positives in this one. (1/25)
November 19, 2024 at 7:17 AM
He was straight up 28-15 on corsi tonight with 58% xGF, but made two crucial mistakes, so the analytics just don't tell the story here.

- Stuart Skinner is taking a ton of flak from the fanbase, some of it reasonable. (10/20)
November 17, 2024 at 4:43 AM
He needs to figure out his funk, and frankly needs a bag skate. His effort has been lacking for awhile and it just can't be like that if you want to be a $10M defenseman. (9/20)

G18: An Avoidable OTL. Lessons all around.

Hold on tight folks, I don't have much positive to say about this one unfortunately, but lets get it done I guess.

First the good:

I honestly thought they had a pretty good stretches through the whole game. Exciting hockey too. (1/20)

If this is gonna work, does someone like Pettersson out of PIT actually make a ton of sense (given he's a lefty)? A bit expensive, but if you could get retention, damn.

P.S. Both goalies are still bleeding GSAx. It would be really nice if we could get a handle on that. (7/7)
November 15, 2024 at 6:11 AM
G17: Connor McDavid. 99th ever to 1000 pts. That's the Post.

No, but actually, super quick one tonight:

- We are blessed to watch McDavid, Draisaitl and co. This is legendary hockey from legendary players. I didn't get to watch Gretz in his prime, but this is what I imagine it was (1/7)
November 15, 2024 at 6:11 AM
I'm glad they pulled it out tonight in the end, they were the better team. (12/12)
November 13, 2024 at 7:56 AM
First things first, the first line was exceptional tonight, all of them, absolutely dominant possession and corsi numbers (~39-~15 CF/CA). Excellent to the eye as well. (2/12)

G16: Stay on target

Inaugural post-game post on Bluesky!

Honestly this was a pretty solid game, The Oilers were in control (in terms of possession) for most of this game, some sloppy play and it was closer than it needed to be. (1/12)
