Raised by library books and the weird BBC TV shows beamed (probably by accident) to rural Australia in the 1970s.

I use one of these which I clamp onto whatever is handy. It is sold as a craft accessory,it happened to be in the supermarket middle ailse one time. It has three light types - blue white, yellowish and white-white (don't ask me what kelvins they are!). The white light does help a bit.

Oval format small oil painting.
The panel is the masonite that came with a vintage picture frame. I gessoed the panel.
A small oval shaped oil painting of a typical Yorkshire stone bridge over a stream or small river. The bridge is grey stone and the sky above it is pale blue. A couple of bare trees are near the bridge. The river flows out diagonally into the foreground. The bridge shape cuts across the panel from one side to the other. The painting is landscape orientation.

I am usually unhappy with my more muted little landscapes. For some reason the bright ones usually work better but I like this one. Very small (6x4) oil on handmade panel. I have been painting these small tree landscapes for a while now.

The horizon line is two thirds down. The sky is cloudy grey and white with a thin streak of blue on an angle. There are two very small birds in the sky.
