Queen Nzinga (c. 1583–1663), ruler of Ndongo and Matamba in Angola, is celebrated for resisting Portuguese colonization and the slave trade. She became queen in 1624 and was a skilled diplomat and military leader, known for her strategic alliances and leadership against oppression.

Jerry Lawson was an electronic engineer dubbed the "father of the videogame cartridge." In the 1970s, video games, like Pong, could only play games designed into the hardware. Mr. Lawson's invention debuted as a cartridge system called the Fairchild Channel F system.

Sanitary pads were developed by a Black woman named Mary Beatrice Davidson Kenner of Monroe, NC.
The first company that showed interest rejected it because of racial discrimination. It was later accepted in 1956, 30 years later. Mary received five patents.
