📣 No voice at the table: Platform workers are frequently classified as “independent contractors,” stripping them of collective bargaining rights and access to trade unions.

🛑 Unsafe working conditions: Whether it's navigating traffic in dangerous weather or facing violence and harassment on the job, gig workers are exposed to high risks—without the protections afforded to traditional employees.

💸 Unstable and unfair pay: Earnings often fall below minimum wage once costs like fuel, vehicle maintenance, and platform fees are accounted for. Algorithms that reduce visibility or impose penalties can cut income arbitrarily.

Gig workers—from food couriers in Bangkok to ride-hailing drivers in Zurich—face daily challenges that go far beyond algorithmic ratings and delivery deadlines:
