I'm having a go at blogging about the days out I have over the year, offering a candid view of what goes on behind the camera as I go around capturing transport. I don't know if I'll do a write-up on every occasion I'm out, but I'll try my best.

Overall, it was a very decent event and I had a good time there.

This is also the first time the VX870 has been used in a long while, as I didn't feel like taking my 'A' camera, the VX1. I also didn't use my Rode VideoMic microphone due to bag restrictions and only being able to take a smaller one in.

Also featured were several railway companies, societies, model railway companies; anything railway-related, you'd find it here.

I'll admit, this isn't the best video I've ever made, but I personally wanted to enjoy the event in the flesh and have a good look around, so filming wasn't a priority.

Probably one of the most hyped rail events in many years, Alstom's Litchurch Lane depot would host 'The Greatest Gathering' open day, featuring a plethora of railway traction on display, from steam power to diesel and electric.

a good while, simply because I'm not a fan of the large crowds it attracts.

But despite all that, I'm happy that the SVR is one whole railway again, and there probably wasn't any other engine better to celebrate the occasion with.

I did feel that it was much busier this time around compared to when I rode behind it at the WSR, probably due to the catchment area being significantly larger than it is in Somerset. Whilst I did enjoy riding behind the A3 on my local large line, I think I'll be taking a break from Scotsman for...

of lineside fires. Being honest, I was a bit miffed about it, but it is what it is. Thankfully, though, the railway had enough confidence to run the A3 unassisted from Saturday onwards, which was a positive.

was able to secure places for both Friday and Saturday.

And a good thing I did bag two tickets, as 'Scotsman's first day of running would see Class 20 no. '20142, Sir John Betjeman' effectively hauling the trains, and 'Scotsman' relegated to showpony status, due to the warm weather and the risk...

of hauling the first passenger trains over the newly repaired embankment. Such was the popularity that all tickets on the days it was running were sold out in under three minutes, but thanks to a marketing email that was sent out five minutes before the tickets were released at 10am in June, I...

Well, this one was a bit out of nowhere, wasn't it?

To celebrate the reconnection of the Severn Valley Railway between Hampton Loade and its northern terminus, Bridgnorth, the railway hired in none other than the world-famous engine, ex-LNER/BR A3 no. '60103, Flying Scotsman' to do the honours...

But if you're looking for some LMS three-cylinder action, you've clicked on the right one.

...your Stanier craving.

So, if you've come here for coverage of the Trains Through The Ages event, this video isn't really for you; however, there are shots in places featuring activities outside of 'Scots Guardsman'.

This is probably the most detailed video I've done on a locomotive before, featuring extensive Windowside coverage of the engine. From a few coaches down, allowing you to fully see the engine in motion, to up close and personal for the best soundtrack, this video will for sure entertain...

...mainline-exclusive locomotive and does not visit heritage railways; its last venture to one was in 2014 to the Mid Norfolk Railway. Being honest, I hadn't planned to attend this event, but when 'Scots Guardsman' was announced, I knew I had to head down and get behind it.

However, the focus of this video is on visiting locomotive no. '46115, Scots Guardsman', an ex-LMS/BR rebuilt Royal Scot, drafted into action as a replacement for the original attendee new-build LNER/BR A1 no. '60163, Tornado'. Like the majority of the WCRC fleet, it is a pretty much...

Due to the landslip near Eardington, the railway was still only running between Kidderminster and Hampton Loade; however, for not much longer, as the repair work is due to be completed towards the end of the month.

...ex-GWR/BR Hall no. '4930, Hagley Hall', ex-BR Standard 4 no. '75069' (standing in for last-minute failure Mogul '13268') and ex-GWR/BR 14XX no. '1450' on autocoach services. Also in attendance were two narrow-gauge engines at Highley, these being De Winton 'Chaloner' and Hunslet 'Holy War'.

The weekend of the 5th and 6th of July 2025 would see the Severn Valley Railway hold their Railway 200: Trains Through The Ages event, featuring the Inspiration exhibition train and the HydroFLEX Class 799 Kidderminster; the home running fleet for this event would be...
