We build on conceptualizations of time in communication research and propose that change can follow four patterns over time: Ephemeral (fleeting effects), inertia (delayed onset and waning), reversal (change in direction), and no change. (3/6)

With a multiverse analysis approach, we show that the decisions we make when choosing time frames and time lags have important consequences for our findings; in our case for the association between logged smartphone use and well-being outcomes. (2/6)
