Have you gone into a meeting feeling like you could really help, be a 'Hero' maybe? But then no one listened or cared, so you ended up feeling like a 'Victim' instead?

Today, I’m joining a panel hosted by Productmanager.com to talk about what it really takes to stay credible and aligned.
It’s called: “Managing Stakeholder Perception: How Product Leaders Build - and Lose - Influence.” 👀

One of the hardest lessons in product leadership? Influence isn’t earned by logic alone; it’s shaped by perception too.

This week, I’m joining a panel on Productmanager.com to dig into a tough topic:

⬆️ Reflection = ⬆️ Self-awareness = ⬆️ Productivity (by 23%) Okay, you got the math. So where do you start? Well, all it takes is 10 mins a day....

It could be as easy as waking up in the morning, sitting on the tube, or sitting at your desk, starting your work day, and asking yourself...(thread)👇

Have you ever gone into a meeting ready to share your thoughts but ended up leaving feeling like no one listened to you?

It happens all the time, that sense of starting out feeling like you're going to be a hero only to come out feeling like a victim.

Does this sound familiar?

Then replace the Drama Triangle roles with productive mindsets:
💪 Coach (instead of Hero) – Helps others grow through guidance
💡 Creator (instead of Victim) – Focuses on possibilities rather than limitations.
🫵 Challenger (instead of Villain) – Provides constructive feedback rather than blame.

Many of our workplace struggles fit into the Drama Triangle (Hero, Victim, Villain). Each role has its own pitfalls: heroes burn out, victims feel powerless, and villains create toxic environments...

Identifying when we’re playing these roles is the first step to breaking free...

We can do better. And we should do better because the right hire doesn’t just build great products. They build the future. 💪

📷 This was taken at one of my talks on how we look at hiring needs to change.

Hiring processes are broken, the issue isn’t a lack of talent. It’s that we’re asking the wrong questions, measuring the wrong things, and filtering out the very people who could take our teams to the next level.

I’ve spent years studying this topic... (thread)👇

Great leaders don’t stick to one leadership style - they adapt.
Goleman’s 6 styles (authoritative, democratic, coaching, etc.) show flexibility is key. You can read more here: https://buff.ly/4goujLa 👀

But which style do you gravitate toward?

What’s one small way you can lead yourself with the same care and intention you offer others?

Because the heart of effective leadership is the ability to extend grace—not just to your team, but to yourself.

With all the focus on Valentine’s Day this week, there’s plenty of talk about connection, appreciation, and care—for others. But what if you turned some of that attention inward?

The truth is, self-care, self-love, and self-empathy aren’t indulgent; they’re essential leadership practices. (thread)👇

I remember this, I was mid-talk and remember feeling so grateful to be surrounded by like-minded individuals eager to learn.

These moments remind me why I step on stage. Not just sharing insights, it’s about unlocking something in people that they didn’t realize was missing...

Bill Gates once said, “Everyone needs a coach.” Yet, despite coaching being a common thread among top performers—executives, athletes, and innovators—many professionals shy away from it. Why?...

Over the past few weeks, I’ve lost both a dear friend and a beloved family member. Navigating grief while working has been challenging, but it’s also offered moments of reflection.

These lessons 🗒️ 👇 aren't just for times of grief, they can guide how we show up every day.

When an argument fails to have the intended persuasive impact, people often grow frustrated, and disagreement becomes conflict.

This article showed how making the person you’re arguing with feel that you’re listening can calm the troubled waters.

Leaders often confuse busyness with progress, but busyness rarely leads to meaningful work. Strategic thinking requires discipline, not endless action, so focus your energy on high-impact decisions instead.

This week, take a moment to reflect on what truly matters. ⌛

Here's the kicker, stepping away from the “fixer” mindset that your brain is wired to be isn’t about doing less... It’s about doing differently.

Understanding the problem before you act can lead to stronger solutions, deeper connections, and a better outcome for everyone.

When problems arise, it’s easy to jump straight to solutions. But rushing to fix can often mask the real issue, and leave others feeling unheard. This week, focus on stepping back and seeking understanding before jumping in to solve. Basically, try this... (thread) 👇

Winter gets a bad rep; cold, dark, and hard to navigate. But Kari Leibowitz challenges us to see it as a season of opportunity, not something to endure...

Adjust your expectations and see winter as a season of possibility. What’s one way you’ll reframe your approach this week?❄️

1. Identify and confront limiting beliefs tied to your core strengths
2. Redirect gifts (e.g. empathy, analytical skills) into Creative competencies
3. Unwind old narratives and connect with deeper purpose and authenticity 👇

And as Ken explains, the results are worth it 👇 ...

Big wins get the spotlight, but it’s the small, consistent actions that truly shape our lives...

Consistency doesn’t demand perfection. It asks for persistence. A little, done regularly, beats a lot, done once.

Remember, progress isn’t about grand gestures—it’s about showing up, day after day.

Remember, success isn’t about sprinting in January, it’s about building strategies that sustain you all year long...

So take a deep breath, focus on the journey, and remember: great things take time - pace yourself, and don't get overwhelmed with perfection.
