Employee directory lists them as "non-government," so they may not actually be "working for" NIH OD.

The description of this system (and even many of the specific details) was terrifyingly familiar to me in NJ. I traipse through too many stories like this as a co-director of our local interfaith shelter. The enormity of the "wrongness" of it is difficult to sit with.

I live near Great Swamp but my first visit was underwhelming compared to nearby spots. Any recommendations of how to best experience it?

I know one Nobel laureate who wrote a novel that could fairly be described in this way but I think Narbonic was definitely funnier

seems like you stole this from Twitter...used to be somebody's pinned in another time long long ago...

and yet New Jersey doesn't have a DMV: for the last 20+ years we've instead had a Motor Vehicles Commission (MVC)

We just got to the point where we couldn't do the experiments we absolutely needed to do without on-site 300kV, so we added a Krios on top of our Tundra & Arctica. If we'd had the money 8 years ago, we would've just started with the Krios, but things unfold in circuitous paths.

It's actually a big issue...service contracts are so expensive that if we can't use enough of the 'scope time, I may have to cut staff.

Now is the time for solidarity between people (nominally of all parties) who believe NIH should be significantly reworked or cut and people who believe we should do the same but moreso, since the enemy of both is radicals who believe in smashing everything for the sake of revenge/malice/incompetence

I think that many reasonable & knowledgeable people disagree on that count, but the whole point of the article is that people who /do/ think ICR should be reformed ought to refrain from giving ammo to their own enemies since the admin. is not making good-faith efforts at reform.

This is also a huge part of being a facility director, but instead of 100 charging cables it is 100 miscellaneous communications cables with ends you can't quite identify as any commercially-available connector.

As one of the ESI about to be affected (MRAE for me, so I don't think it's a conflict of interest for me to be commenting on your post...), thank you for expressing your solidarity. It is some comfort to know that more senior investigators see the special impact on people trying to launch programs.
