Last week, I got to defend my dissertation on firearm violence in Europe, after working on it for four(ish) years.

Very thankful for the engaging questions of my defence committee (including @jkivivuori.bsky.social @joakimsturup.bsky.social) and support of my promotors!

In a new research report for Project Insight, I argue that we rely too much on firearm homicide in research, law enforcement & policy making. Instead, we should regard firearm violence as a continuum, in which the majority of firearm violence remains non-lethal.

Setting up a new course is so much fun, especially when I get to decide that it is absolute necessary for the students to talk 3 hours about firearms and drugs.
Gotta love working in criminology!

Grateful to have participated in the Second International Conference on 3D Printed Firearms this week. The conference brought together experts from law enforcement, legislation, the industry and research.
