Apple pie hate for me is about squishy apples. I once made apple cake with substitutions for a classic French pear cake recipe and loved that. So I think it’s about texture for many of us.

At what point will an editor at S&S or Condé leadership say something about Nuzzi’s book deal? Has anyone called her editor or a boss and asked for comment as to why you publish a book after the first two deals were derailed?
