I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but ChatGPT has been very impressed with the quality of my questions lately.

It’s shocking to me how super common this parking behavior is in southern Europe.

Heh. What a weird time to be alive.

Sometimes I’ll be listening to classic rock and I’ll hear an alternative rock song come on and I’ll be like “hey this isn’t classic rock, it’s alternative, it’s from oh shit oh shit oh shit 30 years ago.”

They should call it “liquid ass.”

Fish is the only category of food where high praise is that it doesn’t taste like what it is.

“Oh yeah this fish is really good. It’s not at all fishy.”

I still don’t understand this aspect of European beach culture. You rent these little fabric cubicles and … I guess that’s beach life? Why? Why would anyone do this?

Awesome job with the auto-categorization, Apple Reminders.

Nice weekend in Madrid. It was 39° but not as humid as Portugal. Has the best Chinese and Mexican food I’ve had so far in Europe. I’ll be back.

Just did open enrollment and declined all US health insurance coverage. Holy hell I forgot how much was coming out of my income to insure a family of 3 in America.

Really impressed that given macOS’s growing list of “cancel or allow” dialog boxes for everything from opening files to screensharing, they also decided to make macOS Tahoe look almost exactly like Windows Vista. Chef’s kiss. 👨‍🍳😘

Just checked prices on the new Synology BeeStation Plus.

Amazon.de (Germany) $499 USD
Amazon.com $798 USD

And that’s including the 23% VAT/sales tax over here.

Trumpflation is definitely already happening for long tail and specialty products.

Train travel ain’t bad. You can waltz up to the station 15m before departure, have time for a coffee, and be on your way before presenting a single document.

I might like it.

Am I becoming European? 😱🤯🇪🇺

The Kinder Government/Gastronomy Reverse Correlation Matrix: the tastier the food, the worse the institutions. Mexico? Delicious, chaotic. Denmark? Bland, but everything works.

This framework holds for Canada, the UK, Italy, etc. Note also that food in America has been generally getting better.

🧵 THREAD: A federal whistleblower just dropped one of the most disturbing cybersecurity disclosures I’ve ever read.

He's saying DOGE came in, data went out, and Russians started attempting logins with new valid DOGE passwords

Media's coverage wasn't detailed enough so I dug into his testimony:

CoffeeScript+Pug+Vue = actually not awful frontend tooling. The code is surprisingly succinct.

Pretty wild that the President has the power to order your abduction under cover of night and imprison you in an Salvadoran gulag but lacks the authority to forgive the student loans of public school teachers. I guess executive power has its limits, and those are them.

Impulse-bought two bottles of bourbon. Tariffs haven’t hit yet but everyone is already boycotting American goods so they were on discount at the supermarket. 🥃

But I’ll still have to learn to like European whiskey (“whisky” outside of Ireland and America) in coming momths.

Thought: Populace Canadian provinces are net energy exporters. It'll also be cheaper to buy Nvidia GPUs in Canada within weeks. Canada is a free, open market.

Could Canada be poised to see a boom in AI data centers? 🤖🇨🇦
