Happened to see this just after I replied in James Pearce’s latest piece. Don’t love the idea but Slot has previous with CB/FB types, right?
Despite recent speculation about a possible change of heart from Trent Alexander-Arnold, the England right-back is still expected to join Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer. His deputy and fellow academy graduate, Conor Bradley, will be backed to step up to play a much bigger role next season. Whether Liverpool recruit another right-back will be influenced by what happens at centre-back. For example, if they sign Huijsen, Jarell Quansah and Joe Gomez would be less likely to be called into central duties, so could provide cover out wide. Quansah, who has previously attracted interest from Newcastle United, has been linked with a move, but Liverpool aren't looking to sell him. It would take a very big offer to test that resolve. Senior club sources, speaking anonymously to protect relationship, emphatically dismissed talk of a possible £30m price tag for the 22-year-old.

Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool contract is scheduled to expire in June and he has been permitted to sign a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club since the start of 2025. The Athletic reported in October that Madrid had made the 26-year-old a priority target before they saw an approach to sign him in January knocked back. Real Madrid are working to close a deal to sign Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold as a free agent in the summer. The La Liga side have been monitoring Alexander-Arnold for two years and doing everything in their power since January to convince him to join at the end of this season. They will have to inform their Premier League counterparts if and when a deal is signed, which has not happened yet.

My bad, it was an honest mistake. Must have typed 120 incorrectly when I was looking through the article. I forgot Lynch actually ran with 80k, not 120, so egg on my face all around
