Like the former demands the need to rematch and analyze and watch extra media off to keep track off in an... online communal sense, as opposed to really a direct, focused, A/B story.

The kind of frustratingly vague, clunky but intriguingly energetic method vs. the clean-lined, beginning middle and end rhythm that TV just mastered. It's just a different being, and that's fine, but I will admit I do struggle with it a bit

Like, it's super important, yes, but there are so many other issues that are equally important!

And as you imply it's such an incredible history and a fascinating sound to track through history (and how open it was to embrace other music influences so readily.) What you call soul-folk I've been calling Black Rock, but yes - it's truly amazing stuff.

Instant follow. I stumbled into listening to a lot of Black artists from the early 70s and had been fascinated by how great and under-explored it is, as well as tricky it is to define it to a genre as well. Isley Bros. in particular were amazing to discover how truly diverse they were!

One year later in 1977, one of my favorite, underrated bands New Birth dropped this song that almost made me trip while jogging because it sounds like it was made *yesterday*.

Where Evil Lurks (2023) feels like the first time I've really seen this in action. Protagonist white man bumbling through it, but in a horror movie context.

StuGo is also not a great title. It doesn't seem to refer to anything in the show? It's not a place, nor a character name, nor a central McGuffin or anything. Its humor is very Spongebob with flashes of both Phineas and Ferb and Smiling Friends.

Honestly it's a question I've been wrestling with for years! Family Guy did a "bottle episode" where Brian and Stewie get locked in a vault, but there's several different unique angles and perspectives that had to be drawn individually, so it doesn't quite meet the pre-designed set requirement.

I'm pretty sure Teen Titans Go did this

Curious how it compares to the Spike Lee ones from several years back?

It took a loooong time, but the balance between cartoon-y energy, straightforward narrative pacing, and strong Black perspectives/critiques has *finally* clicked. This feels like "new showrunner" energy.
