‘Stranger 1’ rapes are a tiny proportion, yet attract a disproportionate amount of fear (and fear mongering). Women are far more likely to be assaulted by someone they know.

Reducing the number of either-way offences going to CC should have an impact. But I suspect it will take years before said impact is felt.

That’s interesting. I had only ever considered it in relation to cars before. I suppose there must be other industrial sectors affected too? Does change the perspective somewhat.

Barristers earn more for lengthy trials - of course they want it to continue. System needs an overhaul; it is too weighted to the care of defendants, always to the detriment of victims, who are treated appallingly. I have 36 yrs experience from the other side and have horror stories aplenty.
