In the Superfund program, if a responsible party can be identified (and it can with PFAS) they will pay for the cleanup. The only cleanups paid for by the government are ones created long ago by long defunct businesses for whom a responsible entity simply doesn't exist.

Let me guess. This will all end with private companies buying the properties then leasing them back to the Fed Govt for even more money. It's always been Elon's plan to put more govt money in the hands of private businesses.
