While I'm visiting my dad in another state, I have access to bluesky again. So, have more art. This is one of the new prints I made this year.

Was experimenting with line and pattern on this one.
A linoblock print on hosho rice paper. The print features a sleeping cat in a basket. The print is titled "Nap Zone".

Another new print I made this month. Experimenting by carving onto a clear lino that were pre-cut into circles. Was inspired to try a greenman as a roundel.
2 sheets of white hosho rice paper lay on a desktop with one overlapping artistically. Both have a print of a black circle depicting a greenman. The print was made using a relief printing method used for lino block prints. The sheets of paper are 6" x 9". The block that was carved and used for the greenman print is displayed on a black cutting mat with a grid pattern. The block is a clear circle, approximately 4 to 5" in diameter. To help it show better in the photo, a piece of white paper has been placed under the block but only halfway so some of the black cutting mat is seen through it.

Here is another new print. This one is submitted for my standards review.
A small block print is shown with the block it was made from nearby. It was printed on a sheet of notebook paper with graph lines The block is a 3" x 4" speedy carve from speedball. The block and the print depict a still life of a snake plant, a stack of hardcover books, and a mailing tube, with Venetian blinds in the background.

Recovering from getting my submission turned in for guild standards review for the Craftsmen's Guild of MS (have to do this every 3 years until I've been a member for 10 years, then can apply to be a fellow.) Here's a new block in progress. Still some carving to go before I can print.
A linoleum block in the process of being carved. The block is resting on a cutting matte to help keep it from moving much while it is being carved. Two carving tools are nearby. The block depicts a sad faced bear holding a worn banner that reads, "bearly gettin' by". The type is mirrored on the block so it will read in the proper orientation once printed. Just realized that I forgot to share my reading update for last month.
January 2025 wrap up stats from thestorygraph: 9 books read, 3,268 pages Average book length=431 pages Average time to finish=8 days First book read is "we solve murders by Richard Osman. Middle book read this month is "wind & truth" by Brandon Sanderson. Last book read for January is "red sister" by Mark Lawrence. There is a graph at the bottom that indicates daily pages read for the month but I don't know how to really describe it. Sorry.

Working on my second woodblock print, a jaunty turtle wearing a fez because why not?
A 4 inch by 3½ inch block of shina plywood is shown on a cutting mat. Tools used to cut are near by: power grip gouges and flex it mini-palm gouges. Some wood shavings are shown at the top right corner. The image being carved out for the woodcut is a cartoon turtle. Its eyes are looking off to the side and it is wearing a fez atop its head.

My November 2024 reading wrap-up from thestorygraph. There is a graph showing my reading by page count but I don't know how to explain it. Sorry! Instead, here are the stats listed on the graphic... 13 books total read. 4,554 pages, averaging 393 pages per book and averaging 3 days to finish a book. First books read this month: "The Gate of the Feral Gods" by Matt Dinniman. Middle of the month, I was listening to an audiobook version of J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Two Towers." Last thing I read in November was a short story by Mary Robinette Kowal titled "We Interrupt This Broadcast" in prep to begin reading book 2 of her Lady Astronaut series.

Seriously, how is this cat so damn photogenic? I'm not complaining, just in awe.
A photo of the same ginger orange makarel (?) tabby cat, but a close up shot of her to face. She is looking off to the viewer's left but her face is still in ¾ view. Her white wishers are spread majestically and her dainty right paw is resting in front of her. Same exact orange tabby cat, still dangling her left paw from the edge of the bathroom sink, still dappled with sunlight from the blinds. Now she's looking down at the floor as if some movement caught her eye just as the photo was taken.

I turned a crappy self portrait of me from college that was taken on a disposable camera and redid it as a linoblock print.

Voting has happened. All told, was in line for just under 50 minutes. The lines were long-ish but moved swiftly once the polling place opened.
A "Harris for President" bumper sticker is shown. The poster has placed her "I voted in Hinds County" sticker, which she received at the polling place, in the shot. It is lightly overlapping the bumper sticker. She hasn't put the bumper sticker on her vehicle because she isn't comfortable doing so as she lives in a "red state".
