I’m feeling sorry for this squirrel. He must be so hungry to eat chili coated bird seeds - his mouth must be burning hot.
Winter has come early and his food source might be buried.

I think my next bag of bird seeds will be the regular seeds. 🤷‍♀️

This morning, this cardinal got a bit more of snow than was falling - a bird on the roof of the feeder was throwing it at her.

The Blue Jays are friends again. ☺️

These Blue Jays seem very agitated this morning. They normally eat side by side - like a couple. But today, one intentionally body checked the other.

Maybe the freezing rain followed by snow overnight left them in a bad mood. 🤷‍♀️

These Mourning Doves have a sympathetic face but they come in groups and stay at the feeder for long periods of time pushing out the smaller birds.

I’m going to refer to them as the winter version of the dislikable Grackles.

I had to change the position of the bird feeder as the white snow was affecting the camera making everything else too dark.

Turn up the sound - you can hear the Canadian Geese flying overhead - heading south.

My birdcam doesn’t only capture birds, it recorded my playtime at the end of today with my 11.5 year old dog. He was literally hopping around - so happy to be playing in the snow.

With the arrival of winter (a little too early), the birds food supply is now buried.

Luckily, the neighborhood birds have found my feeder.

A Finch ONLY food fest was held this afternoon - captured by my #birdcam

The Cardinals are always a welcome visitor to the feeder. Their bright colors contrast perfectly with the white snow.

They didn’t stay long as there is a pod of Grackles in the area that are scaring all the birds. I thought they had migrated.

There’s a feeding frenzy at the bird feeder this morning. I wonder if they are agitated from listening to the electric transformers blowing up or the sound of power surges all night long. Most of my area is without power this morning.

Even a mixture of ice pellets and snow doesn’t stop a Cardinal from getting his belly full.

This Blue Jay seems to be in a hurry to eat before the heavy snow arrives this afternoon and this evening. 15+cm

The light snow is just starting to fall and the wind is picking up.

My birdfeeder’s simple beauty offers an escape from the daily insane political turmoil. This morning, a male House Finch and a Junco are together in harmony - a truce nature served up.

Goldfinches are lingering in my area longer than I expected. I thought they would have migrated south by now. We are expecting some snow late tomorrow.

A break from the regular news of the day: News from my backyard Birdcam.

On this rainy afternoon, the normally solitary Junco couldn’t wait any longer. The Mourning Dove had been at the feeder over 6 min. With the Dove’s back turned, the Junco swooped in and nervously got its fill.
