I tend to do planning sketches for bigger pieces or little character sketches. Sometimes I’ll go to a pet store and draw critters

I use sketchbooks mostly for planning larger pieces and quick sketches on the go, so I tend to stick with anything in an A5 size because it fits well in my bag. My favorites tend to be the Fabriano Ecoqua. Super cheap and they handle pen, marker, and colored pencil pretty well.

Oh nice! I’d been eyeing one for digital plein air painting, but good to know it works solidly for traditional media as well!
