Finally, we use these systems to control the expression of metabolic enzymes in the pathway towards casbene - an industrially relevant diterpenoid - thus modulating casbene production.

Rather than a bimodal -/+ or on/off switch, we wanted to modulate gene expression across a range of vitamin concentrations. We show robust fine-tuned control of several chloroplast transgenes under these systems.
