Gaz's family visits first. Price has to wait for his turn to see him. He ends up going back to base, to rest, to shower, to inform his team that Gaz has made it.

It's touch and go for a while but he makes it.
He'd been pushing his body too hard without enough rest, the doctors estimate.
It leaves Price to wonder - what did he miss? Could he have prevented this? Did he have symptoms that he didn't tell about?

"If he makes it that long," Price spits out and the nurse looks unimpressed by his tantrum, if empathetic.
"He's in good hands," she says, an empty platitude. "But you can wait here if you want."
And so he does, head in his hands. A silent prayer.

To his frustration he doesn't have any legal rights over Gaz in the hospital. He's not allowed any information about him until things calm down, though they do tell him that he's alive. They tell him to come again

Price drives to the hospital like a maniac, impatient and scared - he's afraid he'll get to the hospital only to hear that Gaz has been declared dead on the way, that he will hear the worst news of his life when he gets to his destination.
