Phone service providers and buy now pay later services can open accounts without pulling your credit report but it will go on your credit if it gets sent to collections. Call and speak to Fraud or Disputes if that happens.

Just to add to this- it doesn't block EVERYTHING, but it does a lot. Also add a fraud alert and renew it once a year so it doesn't expire. The freeze blocks your credit report from being accessed by companies that you do NOT already have a relationship with.

It isn't hard to do and you can temporarily remove the freeze when needed so it automatically locks again on whatever date you choose.
