When journalists are fired or made to make the decision to quit for having integrity and doing things right, that's what kills the public's faith in the news.

In fact since people see so little in a news clip I would argue that those who highlighted that phrase were actually misrepresenting the speech as a whole, not the other way around.

If you promote violence for years, like bashing people's heads on the door frame when arresting them, and spend much of the speech bad mouthing your own VP then I am sorry no, saying "but peacefully" doesn't undo that.

From what I read, there's people upset that a specific broadcast of Trump's speech just before people attacked the capital didn't include his cya phrase of "peacefully".
