I divided the sleeves off the sweater* and the politics are a touch less bleak, hope everyone is partying like Trillian tonight (rolling gleefully in something nice like a dog in fermenting skunk)

Close up on a sweater-in-progress on a human. The sweater’s stockinette edge is curling down like a comically little Peter Pan collar. It’s knit in stranded colorwork with a circular yoke, very much still on the needles and covered in stitch markers. The main color is purple, blue, and gray tones doing the soft blended stripes characteristic of a two-ply handspun, and the contrast is darker gray to black. This view is the front of the sweater which will eventually be a cardigan so the steek stitches are visible. Back view of sweater-in-progress knit in stranded colorwork with a circular yoke, very much still on the needles and covered in stitch markers. The main color is purple, blue, and gray tones doing the soft blended stripes characteristic of a two-ply handspun, and the contrast is darker gray to black. The white balance is making the colors look a lot darker and lower contrast than they really are, but this view shows the curve of the circular yoke and the short-row shaping at the back of the neck nicely. Black and brown tabby flopped on her side on a knitting project. She has her legs stretched out and she’s doing curly paws on her tummy like a little otter and one of her ears is squished over because she’s been really rolling vigorously in the knitting. Her belly is showing a little and when I reached over to pet it she started purring at an absolutely astonishing volume.

WaheyyyyyyyYYYYY we gots pots!!! There’s work to do on some feet and some rims and the spout holes for the big teapot but CRUCIALLY!!!!!!! the butter crocks still fit together post-glaze!
A collection of wheel-thrown pots in a variety of shapes glazed in blues and greens. There are: three mottled blue/purple rice bowls; a wider, shallower mottled blue/purple bowl that curves back in at the rim; a deep soup bowl with straight vertical sides after the belly in a dusty blue; a soup bowl shape with a chunk of the side missing in mossy green and turquoise colors; two mottled blue/purple teapots in the shape of round-bellied vessel with tapering spout attaching at about the fullest point of belly of the pot and a pulled handle, one with a lid that sits atop the pot and one with a lid that drops down onto a gallery and has drips of darker blue and browny-green glaze originating from that gallery; a mossy green lidded jar with horizontal ridge texturing; a smooth cylindrical jar with a slightly pointed lid in mossy green; a tiny mottled blue/purple jar with a domed lid; a small mottled blue/purple jar with a domed lid replicated at the bottom and finished with a straight foot; a mossy green, shallow, bellied vessel with a crescent-handled lid and a claw-shaped handle on one side holding a thing that looks sort of like a very stubby, very tiny chalice (it is a handle for a shaving brush); four butter crocks comprising a cylindrical lower vessel and an upper saucered bell shape, two in each of the mossy green and mottled blue/purple glazes with one of each color closed and the other disassembled to show the component parts.

I think I trimmed my rims too aggressively but this studio glaze is so beautiful AND it has settled enough into the cracks that everything seems to be more or less held fast

The glaze breaks over the rims revealing a line of off-white stoneware and there is a subtle grainy mottling of lighter and darker blue tones. Two deep bowls with very round bottoms and tall straight sides glazed in an extremely glossy medium blue. One bowl sits on a counter, viewed mostly from above, while the other is held aloft to show the side view. The glaze breaks over the rims and a small hairline crack therein in the uplifted pot, revealing a line of off-white stoneware. Subtle grainy mottling of lighter and darker blue tones is especially visible here around the crack where the glaze has settled in a thinner layer. Two deep bowls with very round bottoms and tall straight sides glazed in an extremely glossy medium blue. One bowl sits on a counter, viewed mostly from above, while the other is held aloft to show the bottom view with a bare foot ring, the ghost of a maker’s mark in the shape of a stylized cat. The grainy texture of the glaze is very apparent here where the application is thin inside the foot and at the middle of the curve of the bowl’s belly.

A pair of corrugated cardboard cat scratchers, well used. By well used I mean not just that they show clear and heavy wear, but also that there is a pile of little paper shreds radiating out from the scratchers and embedded in the carpet.

Hey! I made a teapot! And all the attached parts are still stuck to one another, even. Might survive a kiln????
Light gray clay teapot, smallish in size. The body has quite a round bellied-out shape, as does the handle. The spout, foot, and knob on the lid are quite angular. The surface has been smoothed carefully to secure the joins on spout and handle and remove most of the throwing rings.

This is so cute I got upset about it, I heard her pawing at something for ages and then I look and she’s tucked Beav into bed with her??? I love cats! I love Trillian! Trillian loves Beav!
A gray cave-style cat bed with a white cushion in it. The top of the cave is squashed down from being slept upon instead of within, and from inside a black and brown tabby peers somberly out. A few inches from her face is a tiny stuffed beaver toy, which is only recognizable because I’ve told you so as the main beaver feature, the tail, is tucked between the cushion and the bottom bit of the cave entrance.

Well that was not ideal.
A white plastic bucket with an enormous crack running all the way across the bottom and up the side, stopping just short of the lip. The bucket is upside-down on a pallet next to a slab of plaster slathered in wet clay, and the crack in the bucket is surrounded by that same wet clay.

There, you see, my efforts improve. The lid on the one in the back has been trimmed (uh, and squashed, a bit??) but everything else is as it came off the wheel.

In the back on the left, a small round jar with a fairly narrow neck and a lid perched atop with a flat little button of a knob; center, a cylinder neither particular tall nor particularly wide, a medium mug body kind of dimension; right, a classic vase shape with a narrow base coming gently outward to a generous rounded shoulder then quickly back in to a narrow neck and back out again to a rim just slightly narrower than the base.

We went to the office of collecting and design and I took photos of exactly what you’d expect me to have taken photos of

Eight sets of pyrometric cones, arranged in two columns, bending over toward the center, in a double frame. A shelf of miniature toy cows, two shelves of double rows of tiny ornate bottles, and at the bottom a shelf of miniature toy dogs. Miniature castle-style spinning wheel with white fluff on the distaff and in an adjacent bucket, a miniature treadle-powered black sewing machine, a miniature hand-cranked black sewing machine, and a miniature electric sewing machine in white with an 80s shape.

I mean collaring in is an important skill for making these bowls that are not useful tableware to humans (I am practicing a shape that maybe could solve my cats splashing water like dogs problem)

Novice potters can have little a gimmick, for a treat. (I have trimmed the ones on the right since taking this photo, but not well. Quite badly in fact.)
