Scribbler, skater, sapphic.
I’m in NZ and have some ‘still a US citizen’ paperwork to take care of at the consulate.
They require the use of 8.5 x 11 paper. In 2025! In a country where, like much of the rest of the world, A4 is the standard.

Monday. Reminding myself it’s been a beautiful week. Skating, disco balls, working in the garden, creating cozy spaces, making love, eating good food, chatting on the phone with my bro, getting to work with both kids at the shop, riding bikes, dog walks on the beach…keeping the news at arms length.

Meanwhile, in Aotearoa New Zealand, there’s a stacking of the decks that feels straight out of US politics.

Replacing Linda Tuhiwai Smith?!? Yes, she who brought us Decolonising Methodologies — what are they thinking? I shudder to think.

I’m not a dahlia fanatic, but my girlfriend is, and last year - or was it two years ago now? - she planted some tubers in my yard. This fantastic blossom caught my eye this morning, between the tall yellowing weeds and the untended orchard.
