Also @sturdyalex.bsky.social did some good analysis on @quietriotpod.bsky.social podcast this week. Sorting out the foreign interference as quickly as possible is the goal. Bringing the Russia/Brexit thing into it will slow the whole process down. Frustrating I know, but sensible in this case

It's a vital part of authoritarian and fascist movements.. it doesn't have to make any sense. I've just seen clips of Vance blaming 'the left' in its entirety for all the recent unrest. Clearly an ongoing and concerning theme

What can be done though? Maybe it's just a particularly febrile time, but it feels eerily like a Reform government could happen.. it's like watching a car wreck in slow motion, only I'm stuck in the car

I'd consider myself fairly centre left without any particularly controversial views, so quite alarming these positions people have gotten themselves into

It's alarming to see quite a number of my old school friends (UK) on FB posting about the rising danger of lefty extremists and the left being the biggest threat to our freedom. When I've attempted a respectful debate on the matter I get accused of being brainwashed by some liberal agenda.. 🤷♂️

It's concerning, I've been hearing near identical criticism of Starmer from people I talked to on opposite sides of the spectrum. I've been optimistic that he can turn it around, but the track record of ineffectual narrative forming and communication doesn't inspire confidence.

Awful behaviour from these papers, if unsurprising. It seems very difficult to challenge or change this kind of thing
