Thought about this long enough to pass beyond reading comprehension--why can't heap memory be freed twice? what would it entail beyond just not treating the pointers as valid anymore? is it that we want an explicit and continuous account of whether the program is keeping any contact with the memory?

so the stack can store some of the variables' data, while the heap stores other variables? I don't always see explicit calls to Box. is this decided at runtime based on optimization?
