Spent yesterday afternoon at the Art Gallery of Hamilton. A few hours looking at art in vast, calm rooms is a solace not to be taken for granted.

In a hot bath to warm up and soothe some aching muscles.
Cat comes in the bathroom, hops up on the toilet seat and commences a thorough wash of paws and face, stops, stares at me balefully as if to say THAT. Is. How. You. Take. A. Bath.

I just had to explain the term “cheesecake” photo to my 20-something coworkers. Luckily they have their own version (thirst trap) so it wasn’t like explaining long division or something.

Went to a celebration of life this evening and for the first time I truly understand the phrase “sit with your feelings”. I don’t want to deny or ignore what I’m feeling, nor do I want to talk about it, but I really do just want to sit with all the things I’m feeling.

I love being back home, sleeping in my own bed, but it’s disappointing that I no longer have daily access to a lavish breakfast buffet.

The goldenrod was spectacular a few weeks show and now the purple asters are fabulous. I love ditches in autumn.

Between the dog and cat at work and my own two cats at home, think about 75% of my daily life is spent talking to/petting animals. This is an excellent way to live.

The winery dog joined in during a wedding rehearsal at work tonight. I wouldn’t be surprised if the couple shows up with a boutonnière for him on Saturday and makes him ring bearer.

There’s an outdoor marmalade tabby cat in the neighborhood named Sammy. Every time I get to see and pet this lovely orange boy is a moment of extreme joy. Like sparks of joy. Like I’m greeting a long lost family member. Sammy!

Waiting at the passport office for my number to be called. It’s one letter followed by three numbers. I’ve looked at it a thousand times and yet every time they call a number that is patently not my number, I have to look at the chit AGAIN, just to make sure.

Neighbours kids are playing outside, one of those free form pretend games where some object is turned upside down and reimagined as something else, in this case a roller coaster. They are having the time of their lives and it’s lovely to hear.
