I do miss our previous care manager, she was delightful and very eager to help us, but she specializes in helping people out of emergencies and she did exactly that, so we didn't get to keep seeing her.

She's the sole reason I _occasionally_ recommend CC to people in very specific situations...

My mileage has varied with Catholic Charities - my current area of residence has explicitly LGBTQIA+ friendly staff and they wear badges and buttons and flags and have been nothing but help for us

but I would **absolutely** expect the total opposite of them in most any other state

I don't even acknowledge that they exist even if they walk in front of me and call expressly for my attention, and I can always tell that this hurts their feelings more than anything else.

They are entirely willed out of my perception. Begone, laborers of demons.

As a Michigan native, this is 100% truth.

I never once asked for anything more than food or information - "hey, I've recently lost my home and I'm looking for food or info on food banks" getting reactions of disgust and expressions like finding an elderly badger with mange on your silk fuckin pillows is wild.

Salvation Army is a hate group masquerading as a charity masquerading as a thrift store chain.

Those who work at SA are evil or abetting evil.

Deeply unAmerican and unChristian foundation.

-- they basically threw a can of peas and a packet of chicken salad into my ribs and treated me like I was a flaming paper bag of dog shit, threatening to charge me with trespassing and arrest if I didn't leave immediately and if they ever saw me within 200 feet of the premises afterward.

In Michigan.

Briefly homeless because my family moved away to Louisiana overnight and left me sleeping in the storage shed they had kicked me out to months prior.

Salvation Army not only refused to help me with food until I begged --

In Ohio.

Homeless after losing job and residence.

Salvation Army (again) told me they only helped members of church, and only if they were women or single mothers.

They scowled at me and said they couldn't help me because I was "a faithless sinner", nor even if I attended church due to AMAB.

In Louisiana.

I ended up homeless after losing my job and having everything I owned stolen by ex-coworkers who offered to house me only to lock me out, ghost me, and then move away after everything of mine was moved in.

Salvation Army [laughed at me]. Told me they only helped women.
