Well hair loss or partial grey hair (usually in the fringe) is usually the way to code for that. Though some styles are really hard to read that. (See Netflix Scott Pilgrim)

eg If i want to scale a castle, and don't have a grappling hook/gun, I'd need "wings" or a "magic carpet" or something. So wings could go higher, faster, but it would be like using a glider once reaching maximum height. Where as a magic carpet would only really "hover" inches over a surface.

Like in my ideal fantasy RPG, flight would need to use a specific 'gear' space that is shared with diving gear, and contain upgradables for how long it can be used, how far, how high or deep, and how fast it would work.

I think it depends on the environment. A Jetpack (a la no man's sky) is basically mandatory because you get stuck underground, or unable to climb mountains. "Wings"/flight in some MMO's tend to make cheesing objectives trivial.

If VR ever evolves to a point where you can feel pain/pleasure (look up "phantom limb treatment mirror") there may be actual injuries sustained in VR because the body doesn't know it's not injured (see motion sickness.)

Imagine a VR company trying to waiver away that.

I suppose it depends on the game you're playing. There are literately hundreds of non-VR games that are "player character is transformed or non-con'd into doing things against their will", but in a VR context, the body actually believes actions taken upon the stimulus' are real.

Performative 'wokeness' is always seen through by people on one side, and used as slander by the other. Just look at all the banks quickly and quietly erasing their inclusivity policies so they don't get targeted by the fascists.

Given infinite time, the monkeys would evolve language and eventually write hamlet, and then when the typewriters no longer exist, go back to being monkeys.

Yep.

It's more like "I'm so great! Why aren't women fawning over me?"

The reality is that women don't want a manbaby to take care of, and won't settle for them. There are entire genre's of adult content fantasizing about removal of only womens right to consent to a relationship.

Like having a "network connection lost" every 2 minutes on a train or having the device go to sleep when you queue wait would be a non-starter. So it's probably been reformulated like Genshin so that the entire game is client-side and solo-by-touch.

My feeling here is that a current iPad/iPhone could probably run the desktop version but the input mechanics and... well how mobile games work in general would prohibit that.

Depends. If you telegraph far enough in advance with foreshadowing, then it's not a twist. That's why a lot of "psychological thriller" stuff only feels like a twist because the viewer's brain threw away the clues that they will only see on a rewatch.

An unexpected twist lacks the telegraphs.

I like Starfield, but I think the NG+ dropped the ball hard on the ship and base building. Yeah, sure, it makes sense for it to work this way, but why not SAVE the base and ship blueprints?? Surely the player is not a goldfish!

Like to me "I liked it" has to be overtly silly or non-serious to disregard in-universe sense and logical sense.

To me, if you present a story was "science based" and then promptly discard that notion in the second act as you now need magic to fight gods, that feels a bit odd.

On the other hand if the reveal is a thing that was science was magic (or magic was science) all along, then that still works.

Euro style coalition governments of multiple parties just aren't possible without breaking up national parties themselves.
February 25, 2024 at 9:23 PM
That tends not to work very well, even in Canada what we end up with is a "2 party system" with the weaker left having to support the stronger left less the right party defeat it and we get back-to-back elections over and over until there's a single party majority. The priorities just move.

Double subtitle it. eg use italics under the existing subs.

Well, it's more like we have no way of creating immobile history museum that won't get blown up by the next civilization.

One word "micro-meteorite"

I think ultimately giving a reason to actually mod the space suit was the right idea, but this way would have sucked the fun out of exploring.
