I’ve been concerned about the lack of strong statistical and methods training for psych students. It is often very basic and means students don’t have the skills to answer complex questions

we will see what happens, but I think that it's a quite likely outcome. The GRE was (and is) biased, but it's likely less biased than personal statements (based on mentorship in writing), lines on someone's CV (based on access to opportunity), and recommendation letters

@jkflake.bsky.social made such a good case for a really fundamental and devastating realization-if we can’t show thar our measures are measuring what they are suppose to be measuring-then everything after the methods section in a paper is meaningless. This should give us all pause and reflection

Psychology really needs to go back to square 1 on measurement. Even the major replications haven’t taken the lack of valid measures seriously. We are making up questions and questionnaires daily w/o validating constructs or tasks. This means our foundation is seriously shaky @jkflake.bsky.social
