Not even "health-related social needs" interventions are safe
In cases you haven't seen this yet; released today: www.medicaid.gov/federal-poli.... While ILOS authority at 42 CFR § 438.3(e)(2) remains intact, removing HRSN-specific guidance means CMS will apply stricter scrutiny to medical appropriateness and cost-effectiveness claims.

Happy Valentine’s Day to this gem of an SF Muni driver who stopped the bus mid block on my Wednesday ride and walked this very frail neighbor to her front stoop. Everyone should use the power they do have to do good every day.

Could only make a short visit to #ISC25 this year, but grateful for the global community that gathers there & that @ahascience.bsky.social is here on BlueSky. Great presentation from stroke survivor, Jason, on his lived experience, w/well-deserved standing ovation in pre-conf nursing symposium

Happy Black History Month. To celebrate their intersectional histories, Eighth Generation is featuring pieces by two wonderful Black Indigenous artists. I’ve ordered myself this beautiful Prosperity Blanket by Mikailah Thompson: eighthgeneration.com/products/pro...

When I tell the story of my career path, I often explain that I majored in Biomedical Engineering, did two years at a start up, & then went back to school for an MBA/MPH b/c I wasn’t equipped for the career I wanted when I didn’t even know the difference between Medicare and Medicaid. Just saying…

The gorgeous humans in the touring company of Some Like It Hot put on such a great show, we went twice while they were in SF. They tell this (updated) story with such beauty and empathy, and I am now a forever fan of Tavis Kordell. When they come to your city, grab a friend and go!

Sitting at a hit dog stand in front of SF City Hall on break from jury duty. In these sad days, still delighting in the amazing cross section of our beautiful city, including local grandmas and impromptu participants leaving a wedding, all participating in the free dance session in the lawn

There are many narrow narratives & assumptions about what life after stroke looks like. Grateful to every one of our patients who chooses to tell their story and support other survivors. Dr. Ed Wong is an absolute delight. Still learning with enthusiasm and humility at 82yo youtu.be/W29PBmXuJAk

Going in for a long overdue cut and color today. Funny tip…my normal phone Lock Screen is a carousel of family pics I can tap through, but when I go to get my hair done I switch to a carousel of my favorite Michelle Williams cuts from various angles so my hairdresser has quick access.

Busy over-thinking my first post. Looking forward to engaging with the world more, and seeing friends, old and new, here. Shall we talk about stroke survivorship? Musical theatre? Soccer photography? Travel? Favorite books? Just throw it all out here in a jumble?
