Thank you so much to Whitby Lit Fest, my friend and I went to see
@LeeChildReacher
expertly interviewed by Rob Rinder. The place was full - so many fans. We enjoyed it enormously and were able to see Lee and get books signed afterwards. We had a great night.

"Nightshade"
@Connellybooks
Detective Stilwell is moved from LA to the quiet Catalina island. However, a body is found weighted down in the water. At first she is only identifiable by the purple streak in her hair, known as "Nightshade" (Deadly Nightshade in the UK) Excellent.

"Happy is the One" by @katieallenauthor.bsky.social

Amazing book, so much to it, friendships, looking after family, romance all wrapped into the basic premise of a misguided belief. I enjoyed it enormously.

Marble Hall Murders - yet another cracking read from
@AnthonyHorowitz
This is the final part of the trilogy of "books within books" which started with "Magpie Murders" and continued with "Moonflower Murders" I recommend starting with the first one. They are very entertaining.

"The Running Grave"
@RGalbraith
Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott detective thriller. Great that Robin is from my part of the UK. This one featured an investigation into a cult, which involved Robin going undercover. This made for a very exciting read, edge of your seat stuff!

"Burial of Ghosts" standalone 2003
@AnnCleeves
Some reviewers didn't like this one. I did though, I appreciated the damaged heroine, descriptions of people and places and the twisty storyline. I enjoyed it and would recommend it. A good read for me, what more can you say?

"The Twyford Code"
@JaniceHallett
Amazing, fascinating mystery. The working class man who fell in with a bad crowd when he was young had a very authentic voice. Another book which I can't say too much about without spoiling it. It was just so good! Very impressed. Loved it.

5th book in the Inspector Ramsay series, set in the North East. As I've said before, I love these books, the settings and the characters are always great. This one featured a murdered farmer, then a death connected to a modern "Wellness Centre"
Fabulous!

"Resist" by @tompalmerauthor.bsky.social A story about a teenage girl in Nazi occupied Netherlands and what she did and risked to fight back. This is inspired by Audrey Hepburn's young life and makes for heartening reading. Suitable for older children, young adults and adults.

"A Day in the Death of Dorothea Cassidy" (1992)
@AnnCleeves Third novel in the Inspector Ramsay series set in the North East. I really enjoy these mysteries, well crafted characters, plots and of course the setting.

"Where the Light is Hottest" @Balavage
about Natasha, from a poor background in Scotland, working hard to make it in the patriarchal and misogynistic acting world. Very well written in a dual timeline. You will love Natasha and be rooting for her all the way. I loved it.

"The Women in Black" by Madeleine St John set in the fictional Sydney department store of Goodes in the late 1950s. The title refers to the Saleswomen who work in the dress department and have to wear a black dress as their uniform. This is a charming and light easy read story.
