Two possibilities here, both bad:
1. The reports — confirmed by Musk tweets — are right, Musk has the ability to control the outflow of federal $$, and Bessent’s reassurances to Congress are wrong.
2. The reports — and Musk — are wrong, but Bessent is too scared of Musk to say so in public.

This report is especially notable because it seems that, just hours before it was published, Treasury Secretary Bessent lied to GOP members of the House Financial Services Committee about this exact issue.
