Damn, I also thought his spite would keep him going forever. He was definitely a memorable guy. I think I’ve deleted all of his feedback on my stuff from my head. Now I just remember the disdain he had toward artists who enjoyed having a steady job with, like, a desk, in a workplace of some kind.

THE GUY

Over a decade later, I tell people about him and they still don’t believe he was real. Even I still don’t believe that was real.

It’s one of my favorite shows (and one of my favorite OPs)! The manga is also gorgeous, as well. I hope you enjoy it!

This shift at cons is such a shame because I made the decision to stop buying merch and only buy books/prints a few years back. I don’t have the space for fan merch anymore (besides gifts from other people). I wish we had more comic-/doujin-specific events like in Japan, but printing here is COSTLY.

I do think it’s an artist’s responsibility to find affordable venues that don’t use extortionate pricing schemes, but it’s definitely harder these days. All of the ticketing platforms and venues are being bought out by TM. Hope they can find better venues and you can grab tix in the future! 🙏

Yes, please! And Ticketmaster definitely had a hand in the way the prices scaled with “dynamic” pricing, too. On the subreddit, it looks like initial artist presale prices were $85 base. (Mine was $125 with fees included, which tracks.) Ticketmaster’s “Official Platinum” tix were $200+ at minimum. 😭

I was able to grab a ticket about thirty minutes after the artist presale opened! After a few classic Ticketmaster issues, too. I think there might just be a lower volume of people subscribed, so there’s less competition. Hopefully next time around will be easier!

If you haven’t already, I recommend signing up for their mailing list on their site. They used it to send out a code for their artist presale, which opened a day earlier IIRC.
