As a lead designer of small TTRPG, I can definitely attest how much work even small details may require to get the balance right. While I think it's absolutely fine that people modify the rules to suit their needs, they should play RAW at least once or twice before doing so to get a feel of rules.

In your defense, that was my first thought as well...

However, there is one thing that I will not change my mind about: the lockpicking minigame in Oblivion is absolutely terrible. It feels 95% luck based, even after I watched/read couple of guides how to do it.

Now that the game is actually enjoyable when it comes to framerates (although I find it kinda hilarious to literally watch the game to render everything when you enter a new location), I'm actually enjoying the game. Lots of good things in Oblivion Remastered, despite the bugs.

So, since I'm pretty much between games after finishing Clair Obscure: Expedition 33 and waiting for new Doom game to come out, decided to retry Oblivion. I think there has been a patch or two since the launch? Because the game seems to run better on XBox. Still stutters outside of cities though.

And they really seem to enjoy playing those characters.

I literally experienced something like this recently with Elden Ring. Never a fan of Souls-like games, even though I have tried few. But decided to give it one more go and something just clicked and I have already spent about 70 hours this month alone...

I definitely agree. Hub areas would allow better development of NPCs as well as you can really get to know them and interact them. Now you either plow through the areas and forget the NPCs (since they don't matter) or the NPCs are magically transported to the new area.
